Nobel Laureate,Prof.Wole Soyinka has condemned the killing of three of the abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna, by some armed bandits who stormed the Institution last April 20 and abducted 23 persons,including students and staff
The bandits who are demanding N800million from the parents of the abducted students, killed three of them identified as Dorothy Yohanna, Precious Nwakacha and only male Abubakar Yusuf Sanga who was buried last Friday
Soyinka who joined President Mohammadu Buhari, Northern Governors and other Nigerians in expressing concerned over the murder of the students, says the ugly act was another confirmation that the country is at war.
The highly disturbed Literally Icon in a statement on Saturday, however asked President Muhammadu Buhari to seek help to deal with the worrisome situation and stop improvising with human lives, particularly the youths who are the future of Nigeria
His words"To this government we repeat the public cry: Seek Help. Stop Improvising with Human Lives. Youth – that is, the future – should not serve as Ritual Offering on the altar of a failing State.”
According to him,“This nation is at war, yet we continue to pretend that these are mere birth-pangs of a glorious entity. They are death throes. Vultures and undertakers hover patiently but with full confidence"
“Not for the first time, what many hoped was a Natural Law of Limitations has been contemptuously, defiantly breached. We need to remind ourselves of hideous precedents,".he added
Soyinka recalled that the situation has continued unabated since the ugly incident of abduction of Chibok girls on April 14, 2014
“We must remember Chibok. And Dapchi. And numerous antecedents and after, unpublicized, or soon relegated to the sump of collective amnesia. The wages of impunity never diminish. On the contrary, they distend".
“Again, this is no new counseling, but of course, the dog that will get lost no longer heeds the hunter’s whistle. I envy no one the task ahead, terminating the toxic harvest of past derelictions'.
“Blame laying is for later. Right now is the question of – what needs to be done, and done urgently. We keep avoiding the inevitable, but that very unthinkable now hammers brutishly on our gates, the blood ransom arrogantly insatiable".

Meanwhile the management of the university says it is overwhelmed by the situation, calling on the security agencies to assist in securing the release and lives of the remaining students and staff in custody of the bandits
The university’s Registrar, Bashir Muhammad, said in a statement that efforts so far made to secure the release of abductees have not yielded the desired results.
Also 29 students of the College of Forestry and Mechanization, Afaka in Kaduna are still in the capitivity of their Abductors who demanding 500million ransom for them to be released
Edu-Biznews recalled that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has insisted that his administration would not negotiate with the bandits, assuring that the effort is being made to rescue the victims from their abductors
